Khalif J. Gillett (He/ Him) is a queer Afro-Latine artist from Los Angeles, CA. He holds an MFA in Acting and Directing for Theatre from UMKC and an MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA.
Khalif is a poet and cross-genre writer for stage and screen. His play Spilled Milk was a finalist for Best Play and Director in the New York Theatre Festival and received a regional premiere at Fishtank Theatre. He was also a finalist in the Nuyorican Poet’s Café Theatre Festival and has collaborated with Labyrinth Theatre Company. Khalif is also the illustrator of the children’s book, Victoria Wears a Mask by Victoria Barbee.
Khalif seeks to educate those without resources to study the arts and believes knowledge to be a form of reparations. His work seeks to empower the marginalized and underprivileged to tell their own stories and create healthy ways of processing and understanding their realities.
